Safety is our top priority, and for that reason, we want to be very clear on this issue: This product is not to be used for sleeping. In other words, babies should not nap, co-sleep, or sleep with the Learn & Lounge in their crib. The Learn & Lounge should only be used when the baby is awake and supervised. Side note – if you are looking to buy a safe product for sleep, message us directly and we would be happy to recommend our favorites!
Generally speaking this product will be used from birth until 6 months.
A.) The lounger side of this product should only be used until your baby weighs 16 pounds or can roll independently.
B.) The tummy-time feature will be most beneficial once your baby is about 6 weeks of age. From birth to 6 weeks we recommend that you prioritize skin-to-skin contact by doing tummy-time through chest-to-chest.
C.) The feeding feature can be used from birth.
When a baby develops a flat head after they are born it is known as positional plagiocephaly or "flat head syndrome". This is usually the result of spending too much time on their backs, causing the back of the head to gradually flatten. In our experience, flat head syndrome is only a cosmetic issue that resolves without intervention. Other babies require intervention in the form of therapy, needing to wear a custom helmet, or both.
Recent research from the Journal of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics suggests that in any case, babies with flat head syndrome may actually be at greater risk of future developmental delays. For that reason we encourage parents to use the Learn & Lounge as a way to help their baby master tummy-time and make it easier on everyone.
When flat head syndrome is first noticed, one of the first recommendations is for parents to ensure the baby is getting enough tummy time. The problem however is that some babies do not tolerate tummy time, which is one of the reasons they develop a flat head in the first place. This product gives babies an alternative way to complete tummy time, in a manner that allows for face to face bonding with their caregiver, without having to be put on the floor.
Tummy time doesn't only help in preventing flat-head syndrome; it also offers various developmental benefits, all of which help babies learn to move independently. This is great for strengthening and cognitive development. Moving independently also means that baby is less likely to be lying down, which will also help in preventing or improving flat head syndrome.

Also, here are some articles and studies that go into greater detail than what we mentioned above:
(Great article on benefits of tummy-time from Dr. Perri Klass in NY Times)

Yes! Not only will it offer major developmental benefits, but it’s easy to travel with and machine washable.
What Other Parents Are Saying
So happy I got one!
"We just received our Rahoo and are so excited! Our newborn loves lounging in it and tummy time is a lot more controlled - I feel like it is safer and more supportive of her upper body/neck/shoulder. I get scared with her on the ground, sometimes she flails her neck in all directions and this gives her a needed support. I also love that it's relatively affordable (especially in comparison to other similar products that aren't multitaskers!). It is also well made, and I love the neutral color/pattern. Thanks for making a great product!"

Great for my newborn and beyond
“My little girl loves this and I love it even more, knowing that I can place her in it and she is is comfortable, safe, and supported. It is a quality lounger and I love the ability to use the other side for tummy time. The removable pillow also cradles her head nicely. I would definitely recommend this to other new moms without hesitation. ”
